Head of Sales to stop AFR fails
If you read the AFR, you’ll know the front page is reserved for those who have done really well, or, exceptionally poorly.
If you have read the AFR over the last few years, you will know that large, well known businesses in Australia have been consistently called out for wage theft- the type of press no-one wants.
If you have read the AFR over the last few days, you will have seen a story about the business I’m recruiting for- specifically for business growth and fundraising.
If you’re still reading this, you’ll want to know more.
The business is a company called Yellow Canary. Their recent press has been because they have been doing exceptionally well- growing at a rate of knots and recently securing an $11m funding round.
As a company, they have grown from 3- 40 people in the last 12 months. The recent funding is earmarked for growing the Sales, Customer Success and Engineering teams to the tune of another 40 people in total this year.
The Yellow Canary business sits in the Regtech category. They provide an automated Saas product for the ASX200, local arms of global organisations and the top echelon of private companies. The products ensures workforce compliance, allowing organisations to know they are avoiding wage theft, and all of the legal and public condemnation that occurs with it.
It would be nice to sell a solution that organisations desperately need, wouldn’t it?
The Head of Sales position is a role that is focused on both strategy and execution.
Initially the role will need someone who is happy to be out speaking with customers and selling this product. This experience will guide the strategy- what’s the best sales process, where can we add the most value, and what does our sales team need to look like, in order to deliver results.
While initially there is an IC component, the team is slated for growth of between 5-10 people in the next 12 months, and will be immediately hiring for some of the roles you designate as a priority.
Experienced in selling Saas products to large enterprises, have a network in and knowledge of the legal sector and an understanding of the workforce compliance across payroll and award rates? You will be an attractive candidate for the role.
But why would you want to work here?
This is an opportunity for the right person to put a home run on their CV. You will own the number, and be responsible for setting the path and then delivering with your chosen strategy. The business is growing and is tackling a huge market in Australia, with further products for both mid market and SMB being developed already.
The compensation includes a generous base salary that matches the Head of Sales title, a competitive commission scheme and equity for the right candidate.
The business has a flexible working environment- with a mix of WFH and the office- as decided by you.
It definitely won’t suit you if you are uncomfortable with ambiguity- this business is scaling fast, and things change constantly.
