At 21, Geoff graduated from one of Paris’s top business schools.
At 28, Geoff sold his first logistics start up to HelloFresh.
At 30, Geoff raised $7.5m mid pandemic to launch a business designed to bring trust and transparency to logistics.
At 31, Geoff asked me to find him the next Head of Commercial for his scaling business.
Head of Commercial
For some context, the business Geoff founded is ofload.com.au. Since launch in March 2020, the team has grown to employ 32 people. By the end of 2021 the team will be 54 people. Since October 2020 to March 2021 the business has grown revenue 24x over. Roadmap says an IPO is on the cards for 2024.
The Head of Commercial reports directly into Geoff the CEO. The sales team will be a team of 10 people by December 2021. The first role of the Head of Commercial will be to bring structure to growth- implementing processes and setting the team up for success. You’ll need to steer the team through large contract negotiations and tenders.
The Head of Commercial will also be responsible for growing the revenue a further 2.5 times in 2022.
In 2022 Ofload will be launching a Saas product allowing businesses to better manage their logistical efforts. You’ll be a key player in strategy, pricing, and of course rollout of this product.
What you need to be able to demonstrate to get the job
Ideally you will have worked in a scale up technology company that sells to large organisations, directing sales and marketing efforts.
You’ll need to be comfortable with numbers- think a few steps up from Pythagoras and a few steps down from Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture. Short story- your eyes must not glaze over as soon as someone talks numbers.
